The Brain and Learning Lab conducts research to explore neural mechanism of numerical cognition and its development using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Coupled with univariate and multivariate analysis method as well as machine learning approach, we scrutinize the development of neuroanatomy as well as functional circuits on typical and atypical developing children. Our study sample includes children as young as 7-to-9 year-old, adolescents, young adults, as well as clinical population with learning disabilities. Our ongoing projects focus on the following topics:

1. The neural bases of arithmetic problem solving.

2. The cognitive development and individual difference of mathematical skills.

3. Evidence-based math game intervention on children with mathematical learning disabilities.

4.Cognitive control network in children reading and arithmetic skills.
